Holy sh*t, has it been almost 10 years since Ray came out and elevated
Jamie Foxx to the A-List crowd in Hollywood? I can't believe how fast time flies. Yikes. Anyway, with
Django Unchained still fresh in my memory from last night, I thought it would be fun to dig out my copy of
Ray to see
Jamie and
Kerry Washington's first film together. They definitely have that X factor whenever they are on screen together. Electric chemistry for sure. But this movie is all about
Foxx. To watch him literally transform into
Ray Charles is just mind boggling. A masterclass performance. I still can't get over how much he absorbs and becomes the man. There are times I forget I'm watching a movie because he is just that damn good. His performance was the easiest money you would ever make had you bet on who would win for
Best Actor that year.
Great cast that also includes Sharon Warren, Regina King (who I loooooove),
Larenz Tate, Curtis Armstrong, Bokeem Woodbine, Warwick Davis, David Krumholtz and
Terrance Howard. If you love the music of
Ray Charles, or you want to experience what a real actor is all about, do yourself a favor and give
Ray a chance.
