Mystery, Alaska

Trailer

The biggest hurdle for Mystery, Alaska is that for a movie that surrounds itself with the sport of Hockey as being the key to their identity, there really isn't a whole lot of Hockey being played. It's not until the 3rd Act do we get the big showdown between the Mystery Men and The New York Rangers., which itself is the best part of the movie, but not without its flaws. The film work for the skating and game isn't the best. It's passable.

Most of the movie leading up to the game is soared a bit thin with too many characters. Their's so much going on from person to person, the characters tend to get lost a bit. You would expect to see Russell Crowe and Burt Reynolds getting the lion's share of screen time, but that doesn't happen. Of all the actor's, I would definitely say that Little Richard and Mike Meyers cameos were fun. This is worth a Rent if you're a hockey fan at best.

I rather liked it... even for a sport flick... but maybe that's why I liked it, because of it's minor dependency on the sport

It's not that I don't like it. It's just that I'm spoiled after becoming a huge fan of the far superior Hockey flick Miracles, which I'm watching today.
