Old School is kind of a throwback to the days of 80's "raunchy" comedies. Well, in spirit anyway. This isn't what I would call a 'Hard R' like Porky's, Animal House and Revenge Of The Nerds (which Old School owes a great debt to), but this one does deliver some good laughs, most notably from Will Ferrell. Like most SNL Alums, it's usually 'hit or miss' and he is no exception. I think he is great here because it's in moderation. It's better having him as part of an ensemble rather than having him trying to carry a whole movie on his own. If you haven't seen this one and want some guaranteed laughs (the tranq gun / pool scene is worth the price of admission alone), then definitely check this one out. Worth a Rent for sure. Also in the cast is Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn, Jeremy Piven, Ellen Pompeo and Elisha Cuthbert. I own the DVD and have watched this quite a few times, but it wasn't until just now that I recognized Simon Helberg, best known as Howard from The Big Bang Theory.

I was wondering what your reaction would be to Elisha Cuthbert's role... another seemingly raunchy movie where I don't recall her actually being raunchy.  Not even an Animal House raised-nightshirt like Karen Allen and Donald Sutherland gave us.

Yeah, that's all I remember outside of "we're goin' STREAKING!"  Never really held much regard for this movie.  Maybe I'll give it another go.  I'm sure the fact that all these college movies fail for me is because I didn't go to the party college, I went to the no one attends football games and gang members murder each other college.

Not sure how the ratings system works on this particular role, but her character is playing a High School student and having nudity of a character clearly meant to be underage, regardless of the actress actually being in her late 20's would have some complications I would imagine and be a big No-No.
