Orphan Black is a great f*cking series and more importantly for me.....totally original, unique and inspiring. As someone that gets my fair share of TV series, be it on Broadcast TV, Cable or wherever, this one truly is something memorable. Prior to finally getting a copy of
Season 1 from the Library, I knew of the show, but nothing more. I actually put this on my
Hold List about 6 months ago and was 2nd in line. But after a month waiting, the
Library just up and deleting me from the Hold List. When I went back to place my hold again, I was now at 50. What the f*ck!. With one copy available for the entire City, the wait became unbearably long. In that time, going to
Comic Con, one of the booths was dedicated to
Orphan Black. Or maybe it was
Syfy Channel's booth? Anyway, whatever booth it was, on the big ass monitor, they were playing the first scene of
Episode 1 as a teaser which was the only thing that I allowed myself to know about the series and it intrigued me even more.
In a nutshell, the series is about Clones that end up finding each other one way or another. Some are good and some are not. It's up to Sarah to uncover the whole true nature of what is going on and that in itself is where the writing is amazing and why I think it's so inspiring for me. It makes me want to write, which is a great thing to get from a show like this. They could have just started the series during the cloning phase and told the story in a linear way from there. But since they start it so far after the fact, where each have their own lives, we get to sit back and watch the story unfold and see who and what is behind all this and what it all means.
Tatiana Maslany is a revelation in her ability to play multiple roles and give each character their own unique personality and voice. I don't see
Tatiana playing each role, I see a characters different from each other. This is every actors dream and she pulls it off flawlessly. If she hasn't been nominated for any kind of award for this, then that is an epic crime against the art of acting. I love
Season 1 enough that I will be looking for a copy of it on eBay. Looking forward to
Season 2.
