The Shield (Season 2 - 2003)Trailer Season 2 of
The Shield picks up about 5 weeks after the conclusion of
Season 1 with
Vic Mackey trying to find his children with his estranged wife having taken them and disappearing. This is the story that has undercurrent of a couple of much larger story lines. The first is the
Armadillo arc and the other is the
Money Train arc, which will play a huge role for the remainder of the series. There is a lot to like about this season and the stories themselves are at the forefront, but it's the interplay between the "minor' characters that elevate this one as well.
Claudette Wyms getting fed up with the way things are being run in the
Barn gets an offer she can't refuse (which doesn't take effect until
Season 3).
Dutch Wagenbach, having
**** a case involving a serial killer from
Season 1 is on a path of constant f*ck ups this season as he looks at every one being a 'serial killer' and it blows up in his face all season long.
Julian is the victim of gay bashing (literally) and will change his story dramtically from here on out.
Danni is fired (wrongfully) because no one can catch
Vic in the act and
David wins his seat and becomes the new mayor, thus vacating his position as
Captain in
Farmington.
Along with their arcs, there are two new characters that add a wealth of juicy story lines:
Tavon, who joins the Strike Force Team is cool as a cucumber, who's story line will pay off in a big way in the future and
Lanie Kellis, who is the Independent Auditor, makes EVERYONE's life a living hell in the
Barn. She may have had a small role throughout Season 2, but it's a lasting one. Overall, this season is awesome and it also contains one of the most popular scenes in the history of the show, which plays out at the end of the
Season Finale. This was THE scene I have been waiting for since starting my Shield Marathon. Love it. FYI, the scene was also the first time I ever heard of the song '
Overcome' by
Live. This is a definite
Must-Buy DVD for any home library.
