Pearl Jam Twenty is written and directed by
Cameron Crowe, the same genius that did
Almost Famous. If you are a fan of that movie or just a fan of Rock music, you will definitely enjoy this documentary on
Pearl Jam. The name of the movie is self explanatory in that
PJ20 covers the birth, good times and bad times of the band in its 20 year existence. There are so many never before seen footage in the film that it had me thinking it was created just for the movie itself. But then you realize how old some of the stuff is and you marvel how someone had the foresight to video tape or film once in a lifetime moments.
So, do you have to be a
Pearl Jam fan to enjoy this doc? Absolutely not. If you want to see what its like to walk in the shoes of a superband like
PJ and watch them take on
Ticketmaster, deal with the tragedy of
Roskilde and everything else in between, you will be entralled at what unfolds on the screen. Even though the movie is about
Pearl Jam, it spreads the wealth around to bands like
Soundgarden, Nirvana and
Alice In Chains. Listening to
Chris Cornell talk about those eariy Seattle years is pretty damn cool.
I highly recommend this a must-own DVD. A definite
