hahahaha was totally thinking of doing the same thing!

I would love to one day have Aliens move up the ladder for me...something about Cameron's directing just bugs the sh*t out of me...I don't know why.

I've never liked his movies...Abyss...I didn't even know who he was back then or hardly...I saw it in the theater and was shoot I don't even know...a kid still I'd guess/...it all feels fake and overly set up...the way it looks,  the way people act, the colors...it's not my thing.

One of the few things we will disagree on is where Aliens ranks. It's tops in my book. You can read my review of it here.

When David's walking around the empty ship at the start it felt SO Starbug I could hear the Red Dwarf theme in my head.

And BTW, did anyone notice lots of the buttons didn't have numbers or letters on them?  How are you supposed to tell someone which buttons to press if they're dots?  Doesn't this bug anyone else?

Didn't notice it. Another reason why I need to go back and re-watch this again.

I think this happens quite often. I would think for design esthetics. The lines are clean, techie, and while you might not know what they do, do you care. I could see this in the future. Minimalism.

Look at the 1950's flick, Forbidden Planet. They were trying to grasp the distant future. Those sets were all about style and slickness. Other scifi did display knobs, levers, words, and it just doesn't compare.

Well, I suppose if I can learn to read a binary clock anything's possible, and I do LIKE the look of them (I doodle little face buttons when I design) but in my head I keep thinking "press smley, frown, upside down!"

I still can't get over how nice looking the movie was though...I keep thinking about the colors and just epic shots Ridley used throughout the movie.

I watched Alien last night and let me tell you, it changes everything in how you watch it now. Gonna watch Aliens later tonight.

hahahaha awesome man.....just like Tommy...I am hoping someday Aliens moves up my list....I'd for sure put it up there anyway...so I am not crazy....sucks because the original idea for the third movie if you watch the DVD extras sounded amazing...they didn't really follow through with the concept...and it ended up making the end result...to me a little too one dimensional when the original idea was anything but that.

oh well...as I said Hollywood sucks...well actually they are great...with homogenizing anything they get their hands on

:)

Having just wrapped up my Alien marathon, I now know why I really like Prometheus, especially coming on the heels of Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection. Those two films really did wreck the series. They stories and the tone of the films just did not deliver and with Prometheus, I think it is definitely back on track in large part because of Ridley Scott. I know they have green-lit the sequel, but I haven't really heard anything about Scott being a lock to direct the next film. I was of the mindset that it was a given he would. I hope they already made a deal with him because if they bring anyone else in to replace him (except Cameron of course) this could end up going down the road we have already traveled.
