You already know my feelings about
Season 1 and how I think it's nearly perfect. So, take that and multiply it by a hundred and you have
Justified (Season 2), which to me is already a classic in my eyes. The series continues it stellar tradition of getting amazing actors to come in and leave their mark and making what should be a 'standard' cop show and turning it into something so much more. Where
Walt Goggins stole
Season 1, we get 4 new characters to play in the
Justified sandbox, each leaving their mark.
At the top of that list is of course
Margo Martindale as
Mags Bennett. She OWNED every damn scene she was in. Talk about a powerhouse performance. She was only on for this one season, but she left a legacy that will be hard to follow by anyone. It's no wonder she won an Emmy for the role. There was no way in hell she would lose. But not to be outdone is who plays her sons with
Jeremy Davies as
Dickie and
Brad William Henke as
Coover, each brought some amazing intensity to their roles in completely different ways, all with the hopes of pleasing their mother. I think the
Davies should have won the
Emmy for this season. Hey, at least he was recognized for his work here. Last, but certainly not least was the addition of
Kaitlyn Dever as
Loretta. Amazing.
I just really loved the overall story arc that held the entire season together. Just when you think you have seen the last of it, it circles back to a final showdown at the end and one that you don't quite see coming and will leave you guessing till the very last show of the Finale. Simply put, Season 2 is a Must-
Buy DVD for anyone. Period. This gets the very rare
10 Star rating for any season of any show. I can't wait to get my hands on
Season 3, which I have not seen yet.
