Bad Santa
Badder Santa The Unrated Version

Trailer

I can't believe that Bad Santa is 11 years old. Is that how long I have been putting off seeing this? The movie has always been on my long list to see, but there was always something else that grabbed my attention first. I was hoping that my Library would have gotten this DVD into my hands before Xmas. Oh well, I guess New Years Eve works just as fine as any other day. So, how was it? Meh. There were some funny moments that I laughed out loud at a couple of times. But there was a lot of dead space throughout the movie. I've heard nothing but great things about Bad Santa over the years and how insanely funny it was. It has its moments, but it's nowhere near what it has been built up to over the years. At face value I would definitely say this is overrated. Still worth a Rent, but going into this one with lower expectations or you will surely be disappointed.

The one thing that I did find to be a pleasant surprise is when I saw John Ritter, Cloris Leachman and Lauren Graham were in this one. They weren't best things about the movie, but it was nice to see familiar faces. Same goes for Bernie Mac as well. The character that Billy Bob Thornton plays is very similar to another character that he would play later in remake of The Bad News Bears. Kind of ironic (or maybe intentional) they would use the Bears Theme song (Carmen by George Bizet) to close out this movie. I guess this was their way of getting ready to do the remake.

Yea, it has kind of built up a cult following, so you have to be skeptics about those you talk to or read.

I too, thought meh. Some good moments... But overall not as great as some lead you to believe.
