11.22.63

Trailer

If you know the date 11.22.63, then you know that this series' primary goal is centered on JFK. We all know the "what would you do if you could go back in time and kill Hitler" question, would you do it? The series takes the same plot device and ask you the same with regards to JFK. Would you go back and kill Oswald in order to save JFK? Yes, this is a time travel, fish-out-of-water story that borrows from Quantum Leap, Somewhere in Time and a dash of Back to the Future II. If you like Time Travel and the mystery surrounding the conspiracy of who assassinated JFK, you are sure to dig this. I for one thought this was a great season from start to finish. It's not perfect, but everyone involved does a great job. James Franco was fantastic and actually elevated his game here as an actor. But for me the true breakout star, if you want to call it that is Sarah Gadon. She's the heart and soul of everything that happens and you will absolutely fall in love with her character. As for the story itself, it's fun to see a character out of place and out of time adjusting to his new world, but still clinging onto his future while also trying to change it. Oxymoron anyone?

This is only 8 episodes long, but it feels like there are more episodes because of how many moving parts are within to tell the story. I kept trying to guess and figure out where they would land at the end. It's not what you are expecting, which really through me for a loop and actually had me believing this would have a followup season, which had me pumped. I won't say more here in the off chance you will check it out eventually down the road. Definitely worth a Rent. I had no idea that this was based on a Stephen King novel until I started watching this. I'll be looking for the book at my library for sure as I want to compare both mediums to each other.
