Robin Hood
Unrated Director's Cut

Trailer

I finally got around to seeing this, which has been on my list of movies to watch since, well, since the day it came out. How best to describe Robin Hood? It's definitely a cross between Gladiator and Braveheart with a little bit of Saving Private Ryan thrown in. Huh? Saving Private Ryan? Yes Sir. In the final battle at the end, the whole 'storming-the-beach' sequence is definitely a page taken right out of Ryan and it's pretty damn cool to see.

I really don't understand some of the negativity directed at Robin Hood. It was exhilarating and entertaining from the start. This is how Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves should have been made. By comparison, it makes Prince Of Thieves look very silly and even more of a comedy instead of a serious film. If you are a fan of Ridley Scott or Russel Crowe, you owe it to yourself to check this out. I thought the entire cast was great, especially Max von Sydow. I really liked the casting of Cate Blanchett and William Hurt as well.

The plot of Robin Hood does take liberties with historical facts, so I can understand those that are sticklers for minute detail like this would have a bone to pick with the screenwriter as well as Ridley. But beyond that, this movie is as I said before, fun. I have no problems with this. I'm not 8 years old or and in school. I could care less about whether it's factual or not. Just a heads up, Star Wars isn't real either. So suck it! This is definitely one that I will Buy for my personal video library.

The other thing that I like about Robin Hood is that the ending actually is set up for more stories and both Ridley and Russell have gone on record that they want to do a sequel, which is something that never crossed my mind that this would be an option. Awesome.
