Collateral

Trailer

A lot of people like to bash Tom Cruise for his personal life antics and I get why what he says and does can get under people's skin. But I don't understand these same people refusing to watch his movies anymore because he doesn't abide by some preconceived image that they want to keep of him. Whenever I run into anyone that I end up talking movies with and for whatever reason, the conversation always lands on Cruise, not by me, but by them.

Then the conversation becomes about how they don't like him, blah blah blah and how they stopped watching his movies blah blah blah. And my rebuttal is, "have you ever watched Collateral"? Most of the time the answer is no. And I ask them why and I get the same response "I don't like him". This is when I usually start raving about the movie and demanding them to put aside their opinions of the man and just watch the  f u c k i n g  movie and every time when we pick up the conversation later I always get a "you are so right" when they mention they had finally seen the movie.

This movie is so damn good. Both Tom and Jamie Foxx were absolutely amazing. It's not an acting tour de force with explosions. They both play their roles in very understated manners, which adds to the already very stylish look and feel of the movie. When the movie first came out, I just thought it was a very bold choice for Tom to play THE bad guy, so I wasn't prepared for it. Jamie did an amazing job as the Cab driver caught in a fare from hell. How would you handle having to deal with driving a Hitman around LA, knocking off witnesses? I love movies that make me think of "what would I do"? I wasn't shocked that Jamie got an Academy Award Nomination for Best Supporting Actor for this one. He earned it.

In my opinon, this is Michael Mann's best film, slightly ahead of Heat. Amazing soundtrack. Absolutely love it. I highly recommend this as a Buy.

Love this movie. Just watched again the other week to show my wife. She liked it too. I don't hear to much Cruise bashing of late. I try to keep the personal life and artist performance separate. As Chip pointed out, the characters, chemistry, look and feel is just outstanding from the first scene.

I forget who said it, but the idea of being the bad guy is not only fun, it can be a great character with depth if not more so. Think about, how fun is it to dress up at Halloween as something we normally are not.

People, put your prejudice aside of Cruise and see this solid, amazing film.

I love the ending... I'm just sayin
