Saturday Night Live: The Best of Phil Hartman

Trailer

None available

Let me preface this review by stating that I am the biggest Phil Hartman fan there is. I immediately began following his career when The Pee Wee Herman Show debuted on HBO back in 1981 and was a fan ever since then. But when it comes to The Best Of Phil Hartman, nothing could be further from the truth. Granted, there are some funny skits in this DVD collection, but in no way is this indicative of what he gave us on SNL year in and year out. I think the selection of clips here, albeit humorous are NOT his best. There were hundreds of skits and gags that I thought of when watching this that had me asking "why isn't such and such skit included?". I'm shocked that one of my all time favorite skits is not included in this collection. I am of course speaking of his "...fobody's nault" skit. This is nothing more than a Rent, even though I own this one.

FYI, the 'Fobody's Nault' is one of the hardest to find on YouTube. I have never come across the entire skit. Really not sure why this one is so incredibly hard to find or why no one has bothered to post it.

Having said all that, I will say that my favorite clip in this collection is when he plays Frankenstein and breaks character because even he is cracking himself up.

Because you imagined the skit. It never happened.

 :P

I'm kidding of course.

I've enjoyed his stuff. The SNL stuff, I was pretty far removed by that time. Great character on News Radio. One of my all time favorite comedies
