I've watched
School Of Rock countless times and it still feels new to me every time. If there ever was a movie tailor-made for an actor, this one is it.
Jack Black was made for the role of
Dewey Finn, who cons his way into a teaching job for the sole purpose of recruiting a band to win the
Battle Of The Bands contest. Along the way both students and himself learn something. What do they learn? They learn that this movie ROCKS! Ha.
If you have ever seen any of
Tenacious D, the series, you will see that the characters are not all that different from one another. He's not stretching as an actor here and that's not really the point. It's all about fun and what music can do to give kids that spark of confidence they may be lacking. Write a song, or learn an instrument and do it well and the sky is the limit for them. I like the message here. But you know, everything in the movie could have been perfect, but had the final song sucked, it would have wrecked the entire movie. As it stands, the song iis pretty damn good and if I had an iPod, I'd have it on there to repeated listens.
The Battle of The Bands showdown lives up to the ride getting there.
Highly recommend
School of Rock as a
Buy. Since I already own it, I can endorse that recommendation.
