Ultraviolet
Unrated Extended Cut

Trailer

I honestly don't know why the f*ck I decided to watch Ultraviolet again. I hated it the first time I saw it and I hated it just as much tonight. I figured that since I haven't seen this since maybe a year after it came out, it would somehow be better. Well, it's not. The movie flat out sucks. It's not fun and it's boring as hell. You would think that with all the candy colored Set Designs that we would have something to latch onto. Sure, it may look good, but when you have the most f*cked up story and a plot that makes no damn sense, no amount of Set Dressing is going to fix it. About the only thing they got right was Milla Jovovich's look for the title character.

But even that had its drawbacks at times. I hated the choreographed "fight scenes". It's ridiculous in trying to make it almost like a ballet. The Matrix got it right. Ultraviolet does not. Their are plenty of things that just make this movie a big letdown and it starts at the top. I'm not a fan of Kurt Wimmer directing style for this one at all. It's like he is purposely channeling Paul W.S. Anderson in someway. Why? The other thing that drives a nail in the coffin are the actor's. They are horrible. Their line readings are a joke. The only one that didn't suck in this department was of course William Fichtner. As for the story, it's too much like Resident Evil. Instead of Zombies, it's "Vampires". Stay away from this big pile of steaming sh*t. Hell, even Milla and Kurt have both gone on record saying the movie sucks.

Seriously, who the f*ck cut this movie together? There are so many holes throughout the movie that any form of story is derailed from one scene to the next. Didn't they even watch a rough cut of this before locking it into print? I can't fathom a group of people sitting in on the first cut and saying, "yeah, I totally get and understand where the story is going". NOT!

I will say, and it's been a while since I've seen the flick (and I'm in no rush to ever watch it again) but I remember digging the opening credits, thinking they're like the "enhanced" version of the ones from Mallrats.  Although if this wasn't based on a comic (this WASN'T a comic, was it?), why would you put comic books in the opening titles?

Original story and character for the movie. No comic books, at least that I know of.

That's what I figured.

I don't remember much about the movie but I remember really being annoyed at how much of the physics they let slide to make the movie look good, like that dimensional backpack that they put Cameron Canada or whatever his name is into, it made NO sense.  You know what the whole movie felt like?  Greg Land artwork.

Look, I can usually suspend my disbelief in a lot of things. But I can't and will not let the idea of riding a f*cking motorcycle up the side of a 100 story building as something that "can happen", even in a sci-fi film.

They did that in Doctor Who... though it was an "anti gravity" bike.
