Shanghai Knights

Trailer

My review for Shanghai Noon can pretty much be copied and pasted into that of Shanghai Knights. It is essentially the same movie. But instead of it being "Rush Hour in the Old West", this one would definitely be "Rush Hour 2 in England". Instead of Jackie Chan being the fish-out-of-water, it's Owen Wilson. There are a lot of similarities from Noon to Knights. Further more, Knights goes to show us that every movie recycles the same gag and in this case, they actually recycle a gag from Rush Hour when Jackie and Owen from a hundred feet up in the air and use a flag/banner to "slide" down on, thus saving their lives. I'm surprised that Jackie or someone within his camp didn't veto this as it would draw attention to itself and not in a good way either.

Knights isn't better nor is it worse than Noon. It's passable. There are a couple of good inside jokes involving Charlie Chaplin, Sherlock Holmes and Jack The Ripper. Worth a Rent.

Wasn't Donnie Yen the bad guy in this flick?  It's been a while since I've seen it.

In a parallel universe, this movie was a smash and Donnie Yen started showing up in his own mid-range American action buddy comedies.
