Six Days Seven Nights

Trailer

I originally got my DVD copy of Six Days Seven Nights by way of a 'Mail-In' freebie years ago. I can't remember what the deal was, but from the list of DVD's that you could select from, this was the most appealing of the bunch. The movie itself is just an average one at best. How best to describe this one? It's a Romantic Comedy disguised as an "Action Adventure". There is nothing wrong with the story or plot of the movie. I do like my 'stranded on a desert Island' hook. I'm obviously a big fan of Harrison Ford and I do like some of the stuff that Anne Heche has done over the years. Hell, I'm a big fan of the TV show Friends. So having David Schwimmer in this one should prove a winner, right?

Wrong. If there is a poster for mis-casting a movie, this is the one that would adorn it. For starters, I just think that both Ford and Heche were not right for their respective roles. There really wasn't any chemistry between the two leads at all. He looked bored through most of the movie and she looked like she didn't even want to be there. So did it matter if they get together by the end of the film if we don't 'feel it' on the screen? And as far as Schwimmer goes, he was basically doing 'Ross Gellar' on a tropical Island. I half expected Jennifer Aniston to walk onto the set and punch him. I always thought that Mel Gibson and Rene Russo from Lethal Weapon 3 would have made for a much better film having already proved that they have the chemistry that is lacking between Ford and Heche.

It's an average film like I said, but it's still hard to recommend this at all. It's a Skip.

I didn't even know Ross was in this movie.  The Mel Gibson/Renee Russo casting is actually pretty inspired...

All I remember is they snuck a poster for this flick in the remake of Psycho.

While watching the movie today, I just kept putting Mel and Rene into the roles of Ford and Heche and came away knowing the movie would have been much better and most likely a Box Office success.
