Star Wars: Episode l - The Phantom Menace

Trailer

I debated whether or not I would or should even include the 2nd Trilogy as part of my Star Wars DVD Marathon. I just can't stand Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. It's a horrible, sh*tty movie in every way imaginable. There isn't much to like here. Even the FX shots, although technically impressive just bore the hell out of me. The Star Wars Universe that populates this Trilogy is too polished and clean. It's beyond sterile and just makes the story that is taking place all the more dull. The writing here is atrocious. What's worse is the acting by Natalie Portman. Granted I will give her a little bit of slack given that she wasn't allowed to do anything other than what George Lucas wanted. Ah. Speaking of George. If there was ever a person so ill-equipped to direct a film, it is him. He was living in such a bubble that he couldn't see his writing on the wall at how bad the dialogue was and how boring the story was. I'm sure he never was once called out by his minions. Who would dare bite the hand that is feeding them?

The only good thing about Menace is Darth Maul. But even George f*cked that up to by killing him off. Just about the dumbest thing he could have done was kill off a very cool villain that could and should have anchored the Trilogy up until Anakin became Darth Vader. Oh well. This is definitely a Skip. Avoid this movie at all cost.

The Phantom Menace (Original Poster)

How often is it that the Poster is the best thing about a movie? Love the Poster, hate the movie. Anytime Drew Struzan is involved, you are getting a masterpiece.

Anyone know where I can find Topher Grace's Star Wars Fan Edit of the Prequel Trilogy that isn't a torrent? I checked on YouTube and can't find anything there. From what I've heard, he's never released it. But given this day and age where everything is "leaked" eventually, I hold out hope it's out there for me to dig up.

I think the audience that saw that was small enough to prevent a leak like that.  Friends and fam don't do that to each other.  I wanna see it too, probably never gonna happen.

I'm still kicking myself for not watching Steven Soderbergh's recut of 2001 when I had the chance.
