I think because she looked so good, they kept putting her in the marketing, inflating our sense of importance for the character.  No one actually said she was important, but the combination of that look and Gwen Christie made us all think she was a big deal, Brienne Of Tarth in the Star Wars universe.  But yeah, I do want to see more of her.  I actually like what they did with her in the Lego Star Wars short, they sort of made her perpetually frustrated by the other Storm Troopers.  Like she could be the biggest bad@ss in the universe fi she wasn't surrounded by incompetence, I love characters like that.

You know, one thing I was real curious about before seeing the movie is what the computers would look like.  The original Star Wars existed before GUI was even an expression, the few monitors they had on set were very basic, nowadays movie computers are complex and flashy, I wondered what they would do.  And I thought they actually did a good job making them feel like they belonged.  There's a write-up I found on HUDs and GUIs showing them off.

Some of the ones I liked:

(am i the only one seeing smiley faces in those buttons?)

I also like how they kept the nixie tube looking arabic numbers that were used in the original A New Hope.

I noticed because there's almost no writing in Star Wars outside of the Imperial Typeface.  But I also remember seeing a pre-Special edition version of ANH on tape or something where the displays were in English, and they redid them in alien, same with the numbers.  So I like that they brought numbers back (though I can see what look like Roman Numerals in that red bar, III, IV, V, VI etc... I guess that works too).

There's a book, which I haven't read, called "Luke Skywalker Can't Read" which made me realize "oh yeah, there's hundreds of species out there, each with their own language, of course they would have to figure out a pictographic representation that works across species.  So I made it a point to look for markings and so on in the movie.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’: The Scene J.J. Abrams Regrets

I picked up on this when I first saw it. I agree that this was / is something that should have been thought out a little bit more given the history of the two. It doesn't wreck the movie for me and only die-hard fans will even care or know the subtext.

Star Wars Undercover Boss: Starkiller Base - SNL

I remember seeing this popping up in my Recommended Feed quite a few times before I had actually watched the movie and since I'm always making sure that I avoid Spoilers, this was another thing to avoid until then. It popped up in my Feed just now and I'm glad I finally got a chance to watch it. Damn funny.

With the untimely passing of Carrie Fisher today, I felt compelled to watch The Force Awakens tonight as a tribute of sorts. Small role, but still Princess Leia no matter what. As for her part in Episode VIII, I only hope that she shares a scene (or two) with Mark Hamill. It would be a shame to not see them together one last time on the Big Screen.

Darth Vader watches new Star Wars trailer for the first time!

I'm a sucker for watching these Trailer reactions and I watched plenty when The Force Awakens first dropped. I'm shocked that I'm now just finding this one in particular. I still wouldn't even know about this hadn't it popped up in my YouTube Feed. Pretty cool to see David Prowse reacting to the Trailer for the first time. I was very curious if he would be able to pick up on the Vader Helmet shot. He does.

40 Years of Star Wars Panel Full - Star Wars Celebration 2017 Orlando

There's a lot of new videos being released today. This one is at the top of my priority list first.

Cheers for that!

Seeing Warwick reminded me, after rewatching "An Idiot Abroad" I thought "he should do some animated voices."  He's got a real interesting voice.

Star Wars Celebration Orlando Closing Ceremony 2017

Great video package. Does a great job of encapsulating the entire event. One downer though is hearing that Season 4 of Star Wars Rebels is the final season.
Sigh.
