I think along with the Disney Logo in front, they should have Donald Duck narrating the Crawl. That wouldn't break any kind of reality would it?  ;D ;D

Oh snap, I just got a terrifying thought: Johnny Depp in a Star Wars movie.  And not good Johnny Depp.  Space Tonto Johnny Depp.  Wearing an Ewok head on his own head.

He won't be allowed on the Set of a Star Wars flick. Ever!

Oh!  I just remembered something else I like about this movie, we talked about practical effects, but this movie has straight up PUPPETS in it.  Puppets!  It's been so long since I've seen a puppet in a movie.

Yeah, that was great to see. Another plus for JJ sticking to his guns and going old-school. The other thing I really liked was the fact that they didn't overuse the Lightsaber and have a duel every 15 minutes, which is what the Prequels were guilty of. It's like eating nothing but cheesecake for 2 hours. It may taste great at the start, but at the end you're gonna want to puke. I also like that when Finn had his first duel, he was clumsy and flying by the seat of his pants. It wasn't pretty. Bonus points for having the final duel taking place in the snow. This reminded me a lot of The Bride Vs. O-Ren Ishii in Kill Bill.

So how far are you in the special features?

You know, something I've been feeling for a while is that JJ Abrams doesn't seem to like spaceships that much.  The Sword Swallower was a big ship but we only spent five minutes on it, we had the Star Destroyer, but man, I like spaceships!  I want to see more spaceships in the next Star Wars.  Remember we had Cloud City in Empire, I want to see something like that, a city or a village in a spaceship, big, cool, and weird masses of hardware zipping or lumbering around the stars.  We spent so much time on PLANETS in a movie called STAR Wars!

Not far. Turns out the Special Features is a Blu-ray disc. So, it's a no-go until I pick up my Xbox One. That's why I had all the time to kill last night posting in this thread and Rogue One. The one great thing is that I can watch the movie again, but this time playing the Blu-ray disc. So, it's going to look even better the second time around.

You know, one issue I DID have with the blu-ray is that they didn't put the IMAX footage in it!  I want to see it!  Its only one scene, the Falcon's escape off Jakku, but I don't have an IMAX theater or a FauxMax theater, and I want to see what I was missing!  And dont' give me any hooey about how opening the frame isn't "traditional Star Wars," it doesn't matter.  Besides, you know there will be more IMAX in Episode 8 and even more in Episode 9 (and even more in the conceivable Episode 9 Part 2, given how studios like to break up the final film in a series).  Having one open-frame scene would help ease the viewer into it, you know?  Gradual build.

Oh God, I sure hope they don't start doing crap like that. Wrap up the story in increments of 3 (Trilogies) and just move on to the next set of 3's. There's really no need to start doing Part 1's and 2's.

I'm sure the craze is already dying off, not to worry.  But seriously, IMAX on Blu already!  They did it with Tron, why didn't they do it with this?

I don't know if you're being serious or making a joke. Disney is taking a page right out of the Lucas playbook. Release the "dumb down" DVD and then start re-releasing it each year with a little bit more and more content to reap the rewards of unlimited cash. When I bought my Steelbook, I knew in the back of my mind this was just the beginning of their plan to suck people dry.

I'm being **** serious, they're going to be PRINTING Star Wars for a decade without a break.  It's bad enough that they had retailer exclusives so that fans can't get the whole experience with one purchase, and I'm sure when the entire trilogy is out there will be a box set with some bonuses that just couldn't exist now, and maybe a better transfer, I can accept that, but that's it.

Captain Phasma

They should rename the character to Captain Invisible. As I said before in my initial post, the lack of Phasma is really the only misstep for the movie. I'm confident that she will be given the proper story and screen time in Episode VIII. I've been looking online for other opinions on her lack of screen time. Some good reads that all say the same thing. Such a bad-ass looking design. So much potential.
