I loooooove
Swingers! I hold this movie in such high regard that the movie itself sets in my
Top 5 films of all time. How is that possible you ask? Well, for starters, it basically mirrored my life and my time hanging out with my own friends. Everything you seen on screen is what we were doing before the movie came out and were still doing long afterward. Everything from playing video games before we went out bar hopping, the routine trips to Vegas, hitting on girls, dancing, etc... We all thought it was pretty scary how close to life the film was. That's the personal things I love about watching the movie now. It brings back lots of fond memories. But beyond that, this really is a great film, one that still keeps me smiling for 90 minutes non-stop with some laugh-out loud moments, with the granddaddy being the Phone Call to
Nikki. Now THAT is a priceless scene if there ever was one.
But there are a lot of awkward moments for
Mikey (Jon Favreau) that were just as funny as well. Some of the stuff he says, trying to make a joke and having it land like a lead balloon still delievers for me today. I thought the script was very well done and one of the better ones I've seen when it comes to great callbacks from earlier in the movie. What a great cast too. It's amazing what became of the movie with it launching the careers for
Jon Favreau and
Vince Vaughn. I expected to see big things from Vince, but never in a million years did I think that Jon would turnout to be a MAJOR Hollywood player. Big time director now on films like
Iron Man. Also in cast were
Ron Livingston, Patrick Van Horn and
Brooke Langton. But for me, the crown jewel was
Heather Graham as
Lorraine. This was the movie that I fell in love with her. Seriously. I'm still in love with her in this movie. I love the way she bites her lip. It's a tic that I never noticed before seeing Swingers, but have come to see that she does it in all her movies. Yummy.

Another great thing
Swingers has going for it is the incredible soundtrack. I bought it immediately after seeing the movie and it was my go-to CD for the longest time. The movie gets credit for me getting into Swing music, most notably
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. It's still a great album, one that I'm sure to listen to tomorrow while I work. I highly recommend this as a
Buy. I've actually double-dipped on this one. I had the Bare-Bones version when it first came out and then upgraded to the
Collector's Series when that dropped. One bad thing about the upgrade DVD is that it doesn't contain the original Trailer. No idea why. Just odd. Anyway,
Top 5 movie for me.
