Tenacious D In The Pick Of Destiny is basically a remake / continuation of their series
Tenacious D where they reused some of the material from the show and expand into other newer paths. This movie is definitely aimed for those that are fans of the original source material this is based on. Does this mean it's good? Not really. This is only the second time I've watched the movie and I got the same thing out of it as before. Not a whole lot.
I just think that revisiting stuff that launched them into what they are today is a bad thing. Do something different, try new things, but don't go to the same well. I get that they were trying to write and film something for those that may have not seen the show. But the band and the movie really is going to appeal to those that already fans of this show. So, what was the point?
Having said that, there are some funny moments and they definitely add some new songs that just kick ass. One in particular that is not only the best here, but is one of my favorite songs by
The D. It's
Master Exploder. A fun fact, this song is rated the hardest song in
Rock Band 2 to master. It is seriously for the dedicated in achieving 100% completion.
Anyway, this is nothing more than a
Rent, even though I own the DVD myself.
