The Amazing Spider-Man 2

You know, it feels like I was just hanging out at the Display Booth for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 at Comic Con and that was 2 years ago! Yikes! I enjoyed the first Amazing Spider-Man as I liked the new cast. But seeing the sequel really wasn't a must for me. Not sure why. For that reason, I went into this one with no expectations, good or bad. Having just watched this, I can say this is probably the most Episodic TV version of a Comic Book movie ever. This was very underwhelming and didn't wow me in the way a Big Screen Comic Book movie is suppose to do. This isn't a bad movie, but it's not great either. Jamie Foxx as Electro is probably the weakest villain yet to confront Spidey (Andrew Garfield). There was nothing there. It's a wasted roll if there ever was one.

The best comes at the end when they actually had the balls to kill off Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). If you know your sh*t, you know her fate. But I didn't think they would kill her off this soon into the new Trilogy. It definitely came as a shock and it did offer one amazing, compelling scene that's probably the best I've seen in any Superhero flick. The sense of loss (more so than Uncle Ben, which really doesn't count because he wasn't "Spider-Man" yet) that Peter goes through hits the nail on the head of why Heroes wear mask....to protect those close to them from harm. I can't really recall any other film doing that. Sure, Superman did it, but they also cheated by allowing him to turn back time to save Lois. So, for that I commend the writer and or film maker for ending Gwen in the manner they did. Her head smacking against the ground hurt me as well. Ouch! The movie is okay. Nothing memorable beyond the final 15 minutes. Worth a Rent at best.
