The Crow:
Collector's Series

Trailer

I absolutely love The Crow, probably more so now then when it first came out. I was tracking the production of the movie, anxiously awaiting for the film's release date when tragedy struck. When I heard that Brandon Lee had been shot and killed on set due to a freak accident I was just totally stunned. I was sad and I couldn't really shake that feeling when the movie finally did open. I called in sick that day to make sure that I would be able to see the first screening on opening day. I still remember that day like it was yesterday. It was a cold and raining off and on which kinda added to the mood of the film itself.

Even though I loved the film back then, there was always this undercurrent of what could have been. This would have been Brandon's breakout role for sure and would have made him a huge star. But what we get instead is his epitaph and a reminder of what we lost. The dude had charisma and was a very good actor. He was definitely on his way up.

So, what about the movie itself? What's not to like about this. Great performance by Brandon, cool story, amazing visuals by Alex Proyas, the visionary behind Dark City. And along with this was the killer soundtrack too.  Whenever I hear It Can't Rain All the Time by Jane Siberry, I can't help but think of The Crow / Brandon. The song is very somber and was the perfect choice for the end credits.

I highly recommend this a Buy for your personal video library. I use to tell people that use to rave about the Tim Burton Batman films that they don't know anything about characters or films in general if they didn't place The Crow higher than Batman. Anyway, get this movie now if you haven't already done so.

Can't forget the kick ass song by The Cure that set the tone for the movie.

OK, another movie I'll have to check out again. I know I saw it, but remember very little.

Not really a superhero character even though it originated in comic book format. It's supernatural and Gothic, definitely right in your wheelhouse. I would say it's more "horror" than anything else. But not in the way like say Halloween or Friday The 13th or anything like that.

It's an awesome movie and yes, you gotta revisit it again. I can't say anything about the sequels though. I've refused to watch them ever since they started coming out as the original should have been it. Don't care if they have created new characters to get around not having Eric Draven (Brandon Lee) as the main protagonist of the film.

There is talk of the studio doing a complete reboot of the franchise with the Eric Draven character. Not sure how I feel about that. Personally I don't think they should touch it. But this is Hollywood, they reboot everything. This is inevitable.

I should have posted this a few post back. But I don't know of any Superheroes that go on a Kill quest that Eric is in. This is straight up a 'Revenge' flick to right those that wronged him and his girlfriend Shelly. I'll leave it at that............
