Watched this last night... without my headphones so I missed some things here and there.  Yeah, the design work is cool, and it would have been interesting to see what all could have been done (I was kicking myself for not taking notes while watching this flick... rather uncharacteristic of me), but at the same time, all this focus on the cool visuals and making something new and different, all I could think was "what about the characters? what about the relationships?"  It's okay to play with the source material, but I feel like whatever movie they would have wound up with would have been weak if we don't care about the people in it.  Plus, I feel ike the story would have been really plot-heavy, running through so much material the whole thing would feel rushed.
