San Andreas

Trailer

Meh. San Andreas was just 'okay' for me. It's another addition to the End-Of-Days Disaster flick that seems to come out once every couple of years. The movie isn't bad per se, but it's not a memorable one either. The movie is already over and I've forgotten this. I know I'll never watch it again. One thing that makes a Disaster flick succeed is that it has to be way over the top and by that, it needs to be so insanely over the top like 2012 that it borders on ridiculousness. Once you reach that level of destruction and 'Holy Sh*t' moments, anything less is going to be a letdown, which this one was. Dwayne Johnson does a serviceable job here, but I'm seeing a pattern develop for him as he signs onto roles that just don't do him justice. On paper this should have been something BIG. He needs his own franchise that he can carry and be the hero. This one isn't it for obvious reasons. Worth a Rent and nothing more. Alexandra Daddario was easy on the eyes. Haven't seen her in anything since Parenthood.

Agree, fairly forgettable.

But I thought the race to beat the incoming tsunami was pretty freaking awesome.

Like you said, not bad, but not great. It reminded me to much of Earthquake from the 70's? San Andreas needed fire and lava... even if that is not remotely possible.
