My Hold List is maxed out. This is what is currently on the menu for me. I also wanted to do a James Bond marathon as well. I do own the Sean Connery and Roger Moore Set on VHS and a few of Pierce Brosnan on DVD. I couldn't add any of Daniel Craig's Bond onto my list because I maxed it out at 25. But the marathon will definitely roll right into his run as well. And if you're actually counting the above list. I have 5 books on hold as well you jackasses!

So Goldfinger is on the SyFy channel today. A marathon of 007 movies... odd really.

Anyway, within the first 20 minutes, I noticed sooooo many screw ups in the film. I mean to the point of I'm not sure I can watch this without rolling my eyes constantly.

I about laughed out loud at Bond's uh, pool clothes. Whoa.... Ga-ayyy. Seriously, that was a style for men at some point?

If you remember the beginning is Bond pissing off Goldfinger by screwing with him during his hobby of card play by the pool. He breaks into the girls hotel room who is watching with stationary binoculars. Well, the binoculars apparently are very powerful. Perfect view of Goldfingers hand. But did you notice when Bond talk to Goldfinger the view through the binocular is Goldfingers face? Impossible if the point of the binoculars is his hand.

When Oddjob sneaks up, yea right, sneaks up on James Bond, in a quiet hotel room, one karate chop to Bond's neck, where Bond, doesn't immediately go unconscious, but slowly goes unconscious.

The girl is painted in gold... killing her by suffocating her? Yea, no. Humans don't breath through their skin

Seriously, I know the love for Connery as Bond, but some of these old films are silly at times.

Not unlike films today.  ;D

Everything you just said about Bond is spot-on. These are the same things I noticed as a kid watching them for the first time. I actually started with Roger Moore. He was the Bond that was in full effect at the time they were hitting the theaters. Connery was before my time but I have come to appreciate what he brought to the role and do like a few of his Bond films even if Roger Moore THE Bond in my eyes.

I hear more discussions about this. People hold Connery close to their heart and memories, but dayum watching them today, it gets kind of cringe worthy.

I really like the Daniel Craig interpretation. Pierce Brosnan was better but there are some moments of WTF.

I have no problems with Craig or Brosnon. I actually like their roles as Bond a lot. But for me, I got into Bond when it was Moore and that is why he is the true Bond.

I know when I open up "Carte Blanche" I should be picturing a young James Bond with black hair and a big scar, but when I see the name, I see Daniel Craig... probably because I never really dug Bond until he came along.

BTW, considering Netflix's hold list maxes at 500 (and it's not enough for me), I can't IMAGINE managing only 25.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

I own the first one on DVD, but believe it or not, I never bothered to see the other films that followed. Gonna try and knock these out.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
Star Trek: Generations
Star Trek: First Contact
Star Trek: Insurrection
Star Trek: Nemesis
Star Trek
Star Trek into Darkness (Adding this, even though it won't be on DVD for a long time)

Even though I said elsewhere that I'm more of a Star Wars fan and didn't really care for the Star Trek Universe (until the Reboot came out), I'm gonna try and watch all the Star Trek films back to back as I have never done that nor have I ever bother with the second generation cast films.

Trek... if your not that big of fan, why would you subject yourself to a marathon of it?

I just want to see if I am missing something here. I've never understood the die-hard reaction toward the series. But then again, people can say the same thing about Star Wars as well. I dunno. Will see how far I can take the marathon.

You can skip the NextGen movies after First Contact.  And really, that's the only NextGen flick worth watching (the reboot was in no small part due to those last flicks)-- there's some Nexus stuff I actually like (Picard vs Soran's whole attitude towards time and life), but really, you can jump from 6 to 8 no problem.  I don't even own the other flicks but those.  Just remember the movies, particularly the first one, are products of their time.

A couple years ago I watched the original series when it came out on Blu-Ray and I decided I would watch it in the mindset of someone who'd never seen the show, and that this show isn't connected to the movie or NextGenverse (cause really, it isn't).  And I enjoyed it on a whole other level, and the whole wild west aspect of it came out much more strongly, as well as the whole feeling of them being this one little ship at the edge of known space venturing out and encountering weird sh*t.

Remember, the die hard love for Trek came from all the series (well, not Enterprise... or really, Voyager either), not the movies.  And if you don't dig regular Trek, you might like Deep Space Nine, it's like the Fight Club of the Trek-verse, darker subject matter, big war arcs, religious issues in the forefront...
