The Last Stand

Trailer

When I first saw the trailer, I was somewhat interested in this because it looked like mindless fun and because it was also the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger since leaving behind being the Governor. But The Last Stand has been ripped to shreds by fans and critics alike for the last year or so. The news wasn't good and my expectations, however minimal it was to begin with, plunge drastically. It was bad enough that I didn't even care to save it to my Hold List. Didn't have any intention of ever seeing this. It was only because I saw a promo for this a few days ago that I remembered the movie even existing. Well, I just got finished watching it and the movie was way better than I thought it would be, but clearly a movie that pales in comparison to Arnie's much better flicks from years past. It's not all bad. Kinda.

I did enjoy the movie, but I was confused as to what the movie was suppose to be. Was is it an all-out action flick or was it a comedy? The film maker clearly wanted to tap into both genres to increase potential ticket sales and remind people that Arnie does do well in comedies. But the thing is that this wasn't the flick for that. The "comedy" and bon mots just doesn't work among all the carnage. It ends up making the flick look like a live action Road Runner cartoon of a modern day western. It's just too much. With that said, I say it's still worth a Rent just to see the 'Old Man' return to what he does best.......blowing sh*t up. The fight at the end, as hokey as it was, was still entertaining.

FYI, it was kinda fun to see Forest Whitaker dressing and acting exactly like his character from The Shield.

Yea, not so much. Very forgettable film. I remember zero about it, except Johnny Knoxville, who I really think is worthless in these 'acting' roles.

And speaking of low priority on my Ah-nuld movies, I just brought home Sabotage . I'll watch it only because I might not have anything better. Ah-nuld's comeback has definitely been uneventful at best.

I'm a little more hopeful of Sabotage and looking forward to it.

IMO, do not put any stock into waiting for it. If you see it next week, next month or next year. you'll eventually see it and go meh.
