The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Special Extended DVD Edition

Trailer

Simply put, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is breathtaking and an achievement in the realm of both CGI and choreograph a battle scene to end all battle scenes. The battle at Helm's Deep is one of the greatest battles ever put on film and it still delivers each and every time. Just mind-blowingly awesome. The fact that it last for well over an hour is just....WOW! I never get tired of watching The Two Towers, not just for the battle, but for the story itself. There is a lot of things they got right with this and I think it's because its emotionally more satisfying.

It also doesn't hurt that there is less of Frodo and Sam in this one as we shift more toward Aragorn and his quest. But what makes The Two Towers soar like nothing you have ever seen before is the introduction of Sméagol/Gollum who only had a tiny cameo, hidden in shadows in The Fellowship Of The Ring. Watching the Jekyll and Hyde mind of Sméagol/Gollum is astounding. I never thought I'd ever feel something toward a CGI created character. All the props to the Special FX Guru's that brought him to life. But it's Andy Serkis who is the real genius here. His performance was and is definitely Oscar caliber.

If you have never seen The Two Towers, shame on you! I highly recommend this as a Buy. Duh! The Two Towers should have won Best Picture. I can't even remember what movie actually won. Oh wait, Chicago won. Really? THAT beat out The Two Towers? Oh brother.
