Spy Game is just a great, fantastic movie about espionage, that is also what I would call a Political Action Adventure Thriller. I've owned the movie since the day it came out on DVD. I will watch it, love the movie and then forget about it. Not saying it isn't a memorable film, just that it's a great flick for the 2 hours you in it and then you move on. So every time I watch the movie (the last time for me was probably 5-6 years ago) it feels fresh and exciting. The plot is simple: A race against time to save a spy caught behind enemy lines before his scheduled execution. It's what they do with the plot that makes it so fun and interesting to watch because the bulk of the story is more or less a flashback leading up to the 'incident'.

Now, I have never read the screenplay, but I can imagine had I never heard of the plot or the movie, I would clearly be able to pick the perfect director for this and at the top of my list would be Tony Scott. If there was ever a movie tailor-made for Tony, this is the one. The closest I would say this resembles to another one of his films, it would be Enemy Of The State, aesthetic-wise, it's like watching a prequel....or a sequel. Doesn't hurt that both deals with Big Brother and how the government will try to f*ck one of their own people to save their asses.

Great cast for Spy Game, anchored by Robert Redford and Brad Pitt and Tony did a fantastic job visually as well as the pacing with great edits. I highly recommend this as a Buy for Tony Scott fans. It's a fun ride that never has any slows moments. Thinking about the screenplay that I've never seen, I could imagine that it could come off as a bit too 'talky', especially with Redford's character telling his story about Tom Bishop (Pitt). But in the hands of Tony, he takes that 'show, don't tell' mantra and runs with it, making the movie fly on by super fast. Check it out.
