The Walk (2015)

Trailer

Just the idea that this actually happened still blows my mind, which makes watching The Walk all the more compelling. I know the story very well and yet, watching the movie felt like it was all new to me. As for the film itself, it's a big budget flick, but it actually felt like an arthouse film at times, especially the first hour or so. Another thing that I really liked was that it felt very Chaplin-esque. I kept flashing back to Chaplin's awesome The Circus. If you haven't seen that yet, go watch it now! Getting back to The Walk, the movie is of course all about Philippe Petit insane idea of walking a wire between the World Trade Towers. Just the thought of this alone makes me dizzy. But wait until he finally arrives at his moment of destiny. If you suffer from any kind of vertigo or have issues with heights, you will literally be holding your breath and gripping onto your armrest with all your might. The sweeping camera moves, in and around Joseph Gordon-Levitt will leave you breathless. The movies plot doesn't offer up much in the way of twists and turns. It's pretty straight forward in just getting him there. So, that means Joe has to carry the flick on his shoulders and he does a phenomenal job. I highly recommend that everyone check this out. I also highly recommend that you check out the real life documentary Man On Wire if you want to see and hear from the man himself. One last thing about The Walk, as much as this movie is about Philippe. it's also a love letter to WTC . The final shot of the movie was very touching. Loved it.

Agree. A very entertaining film. Nice correlation with Chaplin.
