The Matrix Revolutions - 2 Disc Special Edition

Trailer

The common perception about The Matrix Revolution is that it's worst than Reloaded. Having just watched it on DVD for the first time in 10 years and so soon after just watching Reloaded, I can that is not the case here. The problems that plagued Reloaded is what cripples the first half of Revolutions. It's only during the second half does it become something rather enjoyable and a true feast for the eyes and ears.

I will skip talking about what I don't like in the first half. Just read my review about The Matrix Reloaded for all of it's problems. So, I'm gonna jump right into what I like and what "saves" Revolutions. The attack on Zion was  f u c k i n g  epic. Some say that the battle went on for far too long. I say it wasn't long enough. So much cool  s h i t  went down during the fight against the Sentinels. The other thing that is worth the time it takes to watch the movie is the epic showdown between Neo and Agent Smith at the end. It wasn't so much the fight choreography as it was the Special FX surrounding the fight that was truly breathtaking.

Other than the obvious visual eye candy for the second half, I think why it plays so much better is that NO ONE IS TALKING. And that's a huge bonus after sitting through all of Reloaded and the first half of Revolutions. I think the reason why Revolutions left a bad taste in my mouth 10 years ago is because it was/is a completely different type of movie. Sure, it's got the same characters....but the playing field was different and factor in that Neo, Trinity and to some extent Morpheus were more "minor" characters than in the previous films.

This is definitely a Rent for sure. At least for half the movie. I certainly don't agree with the public at large that this is the lowest point in the Matrix franchise.
