The Wedding Singer

Trailer

For me, there are three things that make The Wedding Singer successful. First and foremost, it's Drew Barrymore. There isn't a better way to spend 90 minutes with what the ideal girlfriend is than with Drew. She is adorable, sweet, cute and totally awesome. The second thing that makes The Wedding Singer a winner in my book is the 80's references. If you lived through the Reagan years, you will definitely get all the winks, nods and inside jokes pertaining to the greatest decade ever in both music and fashion. Haha. Yeah, it was an eyesore back when I was living through it, but I love being able to see awful our fashion sense was back then. The last thing that makes this movie awesome for me is of course the soundtrack. Even the "obscure" 80's songs in the background are great.

You really can't take a movie like this too serious. It's suppose to be fun and light and it does make a great 'Date Movie'. Who better than to play the Wedding Singer than Adam Sandler? The role was tailored made for him and the fact that he sings most of the time out of tune, which adds to the charm. But then again, has he ever sang in-tune? That's beside the point. The songs that he sings are great, especially Love Stinks, Somebody Kill Me and Grow Old With You.

Love the cameo by Billy Idol, which was the icing on the already kick ass movie, not to mention Steve Buscemi's cameo always gives me a good laugh. This is definitely one of Sandler's better comedies that was built around being 100% juvenile. I watch this one every few years. Definitely worth a Rent. Personally, I own this one.

Oh my god, I don't remember the last time I saw this, but I remember enjoying it (particularly Lovitz's insane cameo).  Chris McDonald is Barrymore's fiancee, right?  I think I remember quite a few of the Happy Madison crew... and I think this is right before those movies had their massive drop in quality.  I don't recall.

Call me a dick. It's got Sandler, therefore I have zero desire to see it, despite a more conventional drama   :-\

Adam Sandler & Drew Barrymore: The "Every 10 Years" Song

I love the ad-lib at the very end of the song. Great callback!!
