There Will Be Blood is nothing short of a tour-de-force of acting.
Daniel-Day Lewis is just un-
**** real in the role of
Daniel Plainview, an oil driller and
Paul Dano not only holds his own against
Lewis , but he creates a very memorable character in the form of as
Eli Sunday. Of note,
Paul also plays another character in the movie as well (
Paul Sunday). And the brainchild of the movie goes directly to
Paul Thomas Anderson (Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Punch Drunk Love).
PTA never seems to fail when it comes to writing original and unique stories that center around people with some major character flaws. When I heard about
TWBB when it was in production I was unsure if
PTA was making the right decision about making a period piece about Oil. Boy, was I ever dumb to question whether or not he could pull it off. A testament to
PTA's ability as a director and writer can be summed up within the first 10 minutes of the movie where not one word of dialogue is spoken and you still learn so much about the story and the character of
Daniel Plainview. This is an absolute must-buy.
