Thor was a good, if not great Superhero movie. It's certainly a step up from Captain America, which still leaves a bad taste in my mouth a day later. At least with this one, Director Kenneth Branagh gave us something to dazzle us with when it came to the Set Pieces. The first one with the Frost Giants was very cool, if a bit short. My only real problem with Thor was in the casting of Jane, played by Natalie Portman. She brought absolutely nothing to the role. But to be fair to her, no one could have done anything with that character. Period. It was underwritten and I wasn't particularly fond of her hamminess in some of her line delivery. I could do nothing but roll my eyes at her.

Still, the film looks gorgeous and the special FX is kick ass. I just wish that more time had been given to Thor's band or misfits. It would have made for a far more interesting story instead of relying solely on the "Cain and Abel" angle of one brother's jealously of another, which made the plot predictable. I still liked it enough to give it 4 Stars. I recommend this as a Rent at best.

Hey for one not caring too much about comic book hero movies, I rather liked this. I'd watch it again.

I think since this skewed more into the Sci-Fi territory may have had a hand in you getting into it. Am I right? It's still a Superhero character and movie, but there was more of what you like to be found here than in others of the same genre.

I don't think so. This maintains so many elements of super-hero, the sci-fi angle takes a back seat. I think it was just well written and the characters (except Ms. Portman) were fun to watch.

I still don't know how the Avengers reconcile, Captain America (time), Iron Man (not really a super-hero, just cool engineering, Thor and the others who come from radically different times and places. To the point where there is no overlap. I'm sure the comic world explains it somehow and the movie will do the same?

Ever since the conclusion of the first season of Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., I have been wanting to revisit Thor and see if the movie would play differently than the first time around. In a word, yes, I see it from a different set of eyes and that's because I now have a lot of back story on Agent Coulson. I actually thought watching Thor this time around played even better than the first time. Even Portman's character didn't annoy me as much as before, which I didn't think was possible. Still a solid flick from start to finish.
