I don't think so. This maintains so many elements of super-hero, the sci-fi angle takes a back seat. I think it was just well written and the characters (except Ms. Portman) were fun to watch.

I still don't know how the Avengers reconcile, Captain America (time), Iron Man (not really a super-hero, just cool engineering, Thor and the others who come from radically different times and places. To the point where there is no overlap. I'm sure the comic world explains it somehow and the movie will do the same?
