Tomorrowland (2015)

Trailer

Since the day Tomorrowland dropped, I've heard nothing but bad things about it, but I refused to believe it could be as bad as everyone has made it out to be. I was still hellbent on seeing this for myself and making up my own mind. The movie had me for 15 minutes..........and then it all fell apart for me. Granted, the first 15 minutes did test my patience, especially when George Clooney and Britt Robertson's character kept interrupting the story by talking over it. But I was able to look past it and just marvel in the world that we get a glimpse of in Tomorrowland. It looks amazing and actually made me want to go to Disneyland and play in their sandbox again, which of course is what the movie is for. It's an informecial and it looked like it was going to succeed in that aspect. But then the "story" happened and made me NOT want to go.

I say 'Story' in the looses term imaginable. To say this is an unmitigated disaster is an understatement. The plot is the definition of convoluted mess with no clear idea what it's trying to say. Maybe, just maybe I would buy into it if they had actually given us some substance for the main characters and what's at sake. Just because the world is going to end, it doesn't mean that you can just skip giving them some depth because without it, no one is going to connect with them on any level. FYI, it took me all day to get through this movie. I would watch 5-10 minutes and then stop the DVD and look for something else to watch. Definitely a Skip, unless you don't mind having to work at figuring out what the f*ck is going on and the lame Spy Kids sh*t that is populating the film. I literally thought this was a Robert Rodriguez production.

I am curious to see this... from what you said, it sounds like it might be a "Divergent" for me, I'll need to find something to listen to and just drink in the visuals (oh I hope there's an "isolated music" track).  I had been thinking it might be interesting to mash this together with Fant4stic for... whatever reason.

Divergent as in 'Bad', then yes. I was pretty sure you had already seen Tomorrowland.

Extremely disappointing, considering who created it.

I'm betting young'uns loved it because of the visual concepts, cause the story was nonsensical to me.

I'll just watch Iron Giant when it comes out.

Sighhhhhhhhh

Yeah, very surprised to see Brad Bird's name attached to this when the credits rolled at the end.
