True Romance: Unrated Director's Cut - 2 Disc Special Edition

Trailer

True Romance has so many great things going for it, that it makes it an instant classic. From Quentin Tarantino's script to the Characters to the Actors that portray them, you just can't find a single thing wrong with the movie at all. I'm a huge fan of QT and I am so glad that he didn't direct True Romance himself. If he had, he would have stuck to the original ending, which would have killed off Clarence (Christian Slater). That would have been such a bad thing to do and would have in my opinion ruined the movie. You can't have your characters go through all that sh*t and not let them come out smelling like roses at the end. Thank God that Tony Scott, the film's director, stuck to his guns and changed the ending to satisfy his own need to see them live.

There are so many quotable lines from the movie, and some amazing scenes that take place. To me, this one has the greatest 2 monologues ever and wouldn't you know it, they are in the same scene. You know the scene for sure, it's Vincenzo Coccotti (Christopher Walken) Vs. Clifford (Dennis Hopper). This is probably one of the most dissected scenes ever and for good reason. It's the Ali Vs. Norton of verbal sparring between these two. The whole objective here was that Cliff knew that he had to take the offensive and p*ss Coccotti off to the point that he would kill him, because had he not been able to exploit his anger, he would surely have been tortured and eventually ****, giving him the location of Clarence's whereabouts. Brilliant scene.

The cast is a who's who. Too many to name really, but they all nailed their roles perfectly. Gary Oldman as Drexl was awesome. Patricia Arquette as Alabama was a role that was made for her and her alone. And Brad Pitt was hilarious as Floyd in the way he delivered his lines.

Highly recommend this. Definite Buy. Other great monologue scenes can be found in Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs. Look for The Gold Watch by Christopher Walken and The Commode Story by Tim Roth.

I love the 'Mexican Standoff' trope. Who doesn't? I dig seeing this list, but man, did they blow it big time with the order and the exclusions. It's a no-brainer that Quentin Tarantino would dominate the list (Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Inglourious Basterds). But to only have True Romance as an 'Honorable Mention' is laughable. I think it should have been #1. I'm also disappointed that John Woo only had one on the list (Face/Off). Just as laughable as TR getting a Honorable Mention' is Hard Boiled. What the f*ck! Should have been #2 if not the Top Spot. And where the hell is The Killer in all of this? It gets no mention at all!
