Twelve Monkeys
Colletor's Edition

Trailer

I think that Twelve Monkeys kicks major ass in spite of the plot being nothing more than one giant loop. With a movie like this, you kinda expect that by the end of the movie, the principle players in the narrative will be able to change the course of what we literally see within the first 5 minutes as the ending. Yup, you know how the movie is going to end and you the viewer keep telling yourself 'how are they going to fix this problem pertaining to a virus being unleashed into the population that kills 5 billion people"? I've seen Twelve Monkeys plenty of times and yet, the story and the characters are so damn engaging that it's kind of a mindf*ck that you get such a rush at watching the 3rd Act unfold before you knowing full well how it ends.

The twist to all of this is that Young Cole is always watching the Older James Cole (Bruce Willis) getting killed in the airport and is the place, unbeknownst to Young Cole, where Kathryn (Madeleine Stowe) falls in love with him. It's these types of stories that I totally dig. I like it when a writer can think outside the box and gives us something new and different to think about. And that's the lasting legacy of Twelve Monkeys. Even though the timeline of the future takes place in 1996, it still feels like all of this is taking place in the future well beyond said 'date'. I highly recommend this as a Buy. If you like Time Travel types of stories, this is one of the better ones out there. Also, it's got a fantastic performance by 'Crazy Eye' Brad Pitt.
