Unforgiven
Two-Disc Special Edition

Trailer

Unforgiven is a great movie and does the Western Genre proud. I think the reason why I like this one a lot, more so than other westerns is that Hollywood in general, not just Westerns, has a tendency to over-glamorized violence. Unforgiven is the complete opposite. It's about regret, remorse, fear, which Clint Eastwood does a great job of getting across to the viewer. There are a lot of great scenes in this one, but I think the one that really stands out to me the most is whenever he is admitting that he is scrared of dying, and having to come to terms with all the lives he has taken. And it's not pretty. He goes into great detail about his victims and how they died. I can't recall any other movie that does this.

He's not the only character that feels the same. Morgan Freeman is also dealing with his own demons, and Jaimz Woolvett spends the entire movie bragging about "killing 5 men" only to finally come clean at the end that this isn't the life he wants.....after killing his first man. As great as everyone is in this one, the movie's shining star is Gene Hackman, who is fantastic. Love the look and feel of the movie and it makes me want to see Clint do another Western. Really doesn't matter if he is "old". He's got another great western inside of him. Also great was Richard Harris and Saul Rubinek. I highly recommend this as a Buy. Now I just gotta get around to checking out the Remake that came out last year.

I looked online with my Library Branch and nope, no copies of the Remake. Nothing in the system. I'm SOL.  >:(
