The Boy Next Door

Trailer

When I first saw the trailer for The Boy Next Door before the movie was just about to hit the theaters, my immediate reaction was this was definitely a Skip. So why the f*ck did I decide to grab this from my Library when I knew it would suck? Well, there wasn't anything else on the shelf. Even the sh*tty movies that I knew about I would have went to before this. If you watch the trailer, you know EVERYTHING there is to know about the movie. They have been releasing the same damn movie for the last 25 years and it never does anything with the same tired old cliches that riddle this from start to finish. F*ck, why did I stick with this turd? There wasn't anything to watch on TV. Ugh. I'm giving this a very generous 2 Stars for the PG-13 sex scene with Jennifer Lopez that doesn't show anything, but does a good job of implying. Other than that, Skip this at all cost. FYI, it took me 2 days to get through this as I was always looking for something else to watch while this was on. Awful script and horrible ending. Sigh.

You weren't driven to de-write this at all?

Nope. I couldn't even get my head into this, let alone watch it my undivided attention.

Never really entered my head either... except now that you brought it up, I gotta imagine J Lo seducing a neighbour kid would have to be appealing on SOME level, like a twist on Unfaithful or something like that.

Or the movie would have to p1ss you off so much you'd be inspired to do something about it.

I'm just not a fan of that particular plot. It's been done to death. I just can't stand it. I wouldn't have any fun re-writing it at all. If anything, it would make me want to quit writing all together. There is a thing about 'wanting' to write something your passionate about. You always hear writers complaining about how they work on such and such script and even the pile of cash they are getting for it isn't worth it because they have no passion for whatever it is they are writing.
