This is the first time for me watching Season 5 of Weeds, so I had no knowledge of what takes place. Having just completed it, I can say that the series is definitely on the decline. It's not a horrible season, it's just that it's nothing like the show it once was. First off, I really dislike Nancy. What a horrible mother. Worst mother of all time. It's one thing to take on the role of drug dealer to support your family (as seen in Season 1 and 2). But it's another thing to basically turn a blind's eye and watch your kids get involved in the drug trade and more. I get that Silas is of age and can pretty much do whatever he wants to do, but with Shane, that's a different matter all together.

Shane is getting weirder as the series goes on. An underage boy is allowed to drink, do drugs and hang out with known murderers? Why does Nancy look the other way? Maybe because it's an admission of guilt, that she brought this on herself with her choices in life. I just can't stand her any more and I'm actually rooting that she crashes and burns, whatever that may be. The other thing that makes this season less than the previous ones is that they don't know what to do with the secondary characters like Doug, Izzy and especially Celia. They have basically turned her into a clown. She looks and acts like an infant. Now she is dressing up (literally) like Nancy and forming her own "team" so that she to can deal.

I was hopeful that Conrad and Heylia would return in some capacity. Didn't happen. I didn't realize their departure would in a way harm the show to the degree it has. The cliffhanger was interesting with Shane basically killing Nancy's nemesis and she seems to be okay with it. How's that for "parenting". Worth a Rent, nothing more. I do like the addition of Alanis Morissette as Andy's girlfriend. Curious to see where this goes and if she will have a somewhat bigger role next season.
