Weeds (Season 6)

Trailer / Promo

Season 6 of Weeds is by far my favorite season, even if it really isn't anything like it once was. Having the Botwin Family fleeing for their lives after Shane killed Pilar opened the story up much more. Having them on the run and traveling the country, looking for a way to escape Esteban and his henchmen rejuvenated the series for me. It also gave the writers a good opportunity to add some guest stars into the mix without it feeling like it was being forced on us. I thought Richard Dreyfuss character was a nice addition and he himself was funny as well. Be on the lookout for Linda Hamilton and Mark-Paul Gosselaar playing against type. Jennifer Jason Leigh also has a small roll this season.

One of the best ideas they had for this season was dumping Celia (Elizabeth Perkins). Her character had become a joke and was one of the main reasons why I slammed Season 5. With her completely gone only made this season all the more enjoyable. I kinda liked having Isabelle around, but with Celia gone, it really didn't make sense to have her around as well. The only reason why this season doesn't get a perfect score (beyond being completely different from the original concept of the series) was somehow managing to shoehorn Doug (Kevin Nealon) into the show. Even though it's fun having his stoner character still on the show, it did feel forced that he too would be on the run with the Botwin Clan. Definitely worth a Rent just to see the dynamic of the family changing. You have Nancy, still being selfish but seeing the scars she is leaving on the kids. You have Shane who is completely jaded about the fact that he is now a killer and you have Silas, looking for a way to break free from the family to have a normal life, one that could possibly be with his real father.

Great cliffhanger. With Nancy walking to her apparent doom, even I was wondering how she was going to get out of this now that she had been captured by Esteban and Guillermo. We find out that Plan C was tipping off the FBI to her whereabouts and that Andy was the one that made the call (per her request). Subtext baby! He is in love with her and that's gotta sting having to make that call.
