Agreed.  Why don't we see Joe Pesci in anything these days?

You know, I think I have the Marisa Tomei SNL where she did the "My Cousin Vinnie" routine in the OJ Simpson case.  I just remember Mike Myers as Judge Ito fawning all over her the whole time.

I think "Stand By Me" will be next, as I picked up the Blu-Ray a week and change ago.  Be like the first time, it'd been so freakin' long.

And I heard that Eva 3 came out last week, but I won't be able to swing by and pick one up for another week or so, until I can take my car in I'm going to stay close to home.  Which suits me, maybe I'll get my first draft done (it's easy to write a script when you know what's gonna happen).

For some reason, after Stand By Me, I decided to watch Mouse Hunt!  I don't know HOW those two are connected (well, River's character was bi-curious and Nathan Lane is gay, so maybe it's that...)

Hysteria

Just happened upon this over the weekend and it turned out to be a very entertaining film. In a nutshell, this is about the discovery of the vibrator, the sexual device for women. It a very whimsical story telling of the psychologist who developed this idea in a very accidental way. It was believed that 50% of women had Hysteria, diagnosed solely on just about any odd behavior a woman had. Women were coming to these psychologist with a variety of problems they did not know why. The remedy for relieving these women of their mental issues was for the psychologist to physically massage the woman’s mommy parts for a length of time until the women were satisfied their issue went away.

So the new apprentice psychologist was assigned to perform this ‘massaging’ all day, every day, because his appointment book became quickly filled. Said apprentice then started to get cramps in the hand. I imagine carpal tunnel.

He fails on one influential woman and is thus quickly fired. He stays with his inventor friend who developing an ‘electric feather duster’. While goofing around the apprentice psychologist finds the vibration of the motorized feather duster very pleasing to his cramped hand. You can imagine what happens next.

Now to see how this might work instead of the manual massaging, it becomes an instant hit, not only because it works better, but faster.

I remember seeing the trailer for this when it first came out, but it totally slipped my mind. Definitely going on my Hold List. Thanks for the reminder. Good review too.

I forgot about that too!  Thanks for the reminder.  I kept thinking it was the other one, the one with Keira Knightley.

Mouse Hunt: I figured out what the connection was last night but then I forgot it.  It made sense at the time, though.

"Stand By Me" (the song, because of the movie) has been in my head all day, though.

You know, what are the odds that two days after watching "My Cousin Vinnie," I would turn on Seinfeld and catch the Marisa Tomei episode?  And on top of that, last night I had watched the "Free Will Hunting" episode of Futurama where Bender revisits the robot homeworld and the Council of Robot Elders ("silence!") and TODAY the Futurama episode that INTRODUCED all that was on.  Feel like I'm in echo chamber bubble universe.

Does Bates talk about his wife in Series 1?  Every time he mentions the unseen Vera, I just think back to "Cheers."

Last night I poked around Netflix and watched two things I found.

The first was a Louie Anderson stand-up called "Big Baby Boomer," I don't remember the last time I saw Louie Anderson in anything but it was surprisingly funny, it was all about the trials and tribulations of being old and fat and trying to get in shape, but the center of the piece was him talking about his angioplasty, which was REALLY funny ('the doctor said 'well, we're going to stick this wire up your groin...' 'Whoa, whoa... who's 'WE'!?'")

After that I found a documentary from a couple years ago called "Outrage," about all these closeted gay politicians and their double lives, and how being in the closet and denying who they were was making them vote against equal rights or even any rights for gay people.  It was pretty fascinating.

He doesn't speak directly about her. The only info we get is from his mother when Anna seeks her out while in London.

Okay. Sorry if I spoiled something, just when you have an unseen wife named "Vera" ...
