The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDnYMbYB-nUThis was definitely on the bottom of my list of items to watch. 1) it’s fantasy. 2) I had to read the Hobbit back in grade school and didn’t like it; sour taste.
I watched it because it happened to come on the tele, while I had to do a ton of ironing. I was a captured audience.
I will give the movie thumbs up for presenting a complicated story to a non-hobbit fan in an entertaining way. I can now put visuals to those characters I had a hard time with before when reading. Let alone all the mystical geographical places that confused the hell outta me.
The CGI work was amazing, as was the sound and photography. It all tied together quite well, despite the massive scope of the film. There is a lot going on and in many of the action scenes, it’s so massive and complicated, it gets lost on the littler home screen.
That being said, for a fantasy film, I was entertained for the 2-1/2+ hours. Peter Jackson did an amazing job.
