Battleship I remember hearing Battleship getting crapped when it was announced, let alone the reviews that came in later after launch. I was thinking, maybe there are just some people that want to crap on something like this because it's what people can do. I ignore the so called critics and look for consumer reviews. It was getting about a 50-50 shot.
Well, it is as crappy as it's been labeled. It was a chore to sit through this. There is no doubt the CGI was awesome and some great eye candy, but that's about it. A very cliched set of events you see coming a mile away. The Battleship crew definitely watched Armageddon... a lot, and pretty much copied it and Independence Day and few others. The script was horrible. The acting was hit and miss. The main stars were good, but they brought in a new actor, well, because he was minus legs. Apparently that was more important than the acting.
Rhianna, well, she is beautiful and the director used her a lot in shots. Unfortunately she opened her mouth. I'm sorry, but talking ghetto was either instructed her to do it, or my belief that's the way she talks, but dayum, it sounded ridiculous in the middle of Navy environment. Either way, it was bad and distracting.
They did pay some homage to the board game, but c'mon, they are not fooling anybody. This was tent pole movie for the summer and they attached it to something different like a board game and produced crap.
I recommend a skip
