ted

I was hearing good stuff about ted. Maybe it was the hype. But I walk away from ted discombobulated. I think the idea is interesting. The R-rated adult stuff is absolutely necessary. I couldn't imagine a watered down PG. But for me, there are way to many moments of crudeness. I guess, uncalled for crudeness. I love crude, but at times it seemed forced. I don't understand the infatuation with the 80's. Way too many references. Yea, the first joke or two was good, but they dive into it.

My wife hated this and I understand why. This is a movie about guys and how guys **** on each other in a friendly way. Something very foreign to women. And it was very apparent when she just didn't get the inside jokes.

I really don't think Mark Walberg has the comedic chops. I saw him in that other cop movie and that was horrendous. Walberg just seems to be acting.

I would hesitantly recommend ted. It's OK, not that great and will leave you with a lot of groans.

Surviving Christmas

I had never heard of this movie, but saw it in the Christmas section of the library, looked at the cast and thought why not.

Well, I'll tell you why not. This is easily one of the worst Christmas movies... or any movie for that matter. And it does not take very long at all to realize this. From the get go, something is odd. The 'humor' is groan inducing and eye rolling. It only gets worse when Ben Affleck arrives at his old house where James Gandolfini and Catherine O'Hara own the house.

We couldn't stomach anymore after 20 minutes... turned it off.

This is gawd awful and wouldn't wish this on my enemies.... well maybe I would

I remember shortly after it hit the Theaters that it was ranked as one of the worst movies of the year. I've avoided it ever since.

Lovely Molly

Last night was just a s hitty night for movies. After quickly dumping Surviving Christmas (see above), we turned on Four Christmases. But thank gawd my wife fell asleep early on and turned this stupid Vince Vaughn, Reese Witherspoon movie off and slipped in Lovely Molly. I heard a wide spread of opinions of this move, mostly bad, but thought I'd give it a shot. Well, it was bad. In acting, story telling and just plain direction. About half way into it I started to read rottentomatoes and found this is the same director for The Blair Witch Project. A movie I truly never understood the praise for. Apparently from reviewers, the director Eduardo Sanchez only has one trick up his sleeve and he does the same thing over and over. It sure appeared that way. When I saw he was making attempts with music and static shots of a doorknob to look menacing, I'd had enough.

Cannot recommend this movie, even if you're a horror fan. This is not horror.

I've often wondered the back story of some of these horrible films. Do the cast not know going in? Do they realize halfway through about their mistake. Was it money? Friendship?

I'm pretty sure I could have read the script and realized the crap.

This is pure speculation on my part, but I think for James Gandolfini, he wanted to show people that he could do more than just the 'Tough Guy' character that he has been saddled with his entire career. He was still Tony Soprano at the time and "comedy" was the easiest way to flex his acting chops. As for Ben Affleck, he has gone on record as saying that during this time he took a lot of  s h i t t y  movies just for the paycheck.
