Dont Stop Believin': Everyman's Journey Everyman’s Journey is a documentary of the current band members of Journey searching, finding and recruiting Arnel Pineda, a Filipino struggling to survive in his home land, as their singer and front man. The story is quite amazing and the documentary goes through every detail how this was accomplished. It was a slow reveal like layers on an onion, that they told the story. It was quite interesting to see the band meet Arnel the first time, try him out and the evolution that occurred there. Same with the introduction of Arnel to the fans at live shows. It was a mixed bag on reactions, but the bottom line, Journey was struggling to stay relevant and they were able to revitalize themselves with this singer. There’s no denying that trying to fill Steve Perry’s shoes is a massive undertaking. Pineda does have a great voice with exceptional range. To the point, I find it odd to watch because of that expressive voice coming out of such a small man.
The down side of the film is towards the back half of the film, things really slow down and become repetitive. Waiting for shows in the green room. Contemplating next moves, a minor cold, etc.
Most of the documentary is interesting and I highly recommend it, especially if your Journey fan like me.
