Captain America: First Avenger I think the 40’s are one of my favorite period of time to watch in film. What I’ve been taking away from Hollywood’s perspective is a great balance of beauty, hope, America, progress and conflict. With that, the sets and costumes of Captain America are pretty cool (reminded me a lot of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow). The sepia tone throughout is a nice divergence from the typical cold blue palette. Chris Evans and Tommy Lee Jones keep this story alive. Other than that, I know nothing of the comic and this movie did nothing for me to see more. The first hour of developing characters I enjoyed, but once Red Skull revealed himself, it just jumped the shark for me. I really don’t get into the ‘evil’ characterizations like that. A lot of the action scenes appeared very CGI and stand out (they should be transparent), much like I saw in Spiderman.
Don’t take my word for it. I’m an outsider looking in.
