Airborne

I was not expecting much because I had read reviews that this was either really bad or didn't live up to quality. I'm in between. I think it had all kinds of potential but by the 3rd act is just became ridiculous. It had me in the beginning with some very interesting characters and a lot of tension. Then as the story started to unfold, it gets really silly and that's when I started to notice the cheap sets and weak effects. If they had kept it straight with smuggling and bad guys and such, it would have been interesting, but they get into some kind of voodoo spiritual body takeover, you just go WTF.

Mark Hamill has not aged well. He did OK acting, but dayum dude.

I would say maybe a rent if you can get it for free.

I think that's why he prefers doing voice over work as the Joker. Probably pays better too.

Game Of Thrones Season Two.  Decided to buy it rather than wait ages-- I'm already waiting ages for a TV series.  And it's a purchase I'm pretty confident in.

I also intended to get "Hipsters" and "Super Zeroes" since they both came out today (and they're both AWESOME) but they weren't in any of the stores.  Which is fine by me.  I wait a bit and they might go down in price.

I'm thinking of doing the same as it took about 3-4 months before I got it at the Library. Yes, the wait list was THAT long. I just can't see myself holding out that long again.

Death Race 3: Inferno

What can I say.... now they are just cranking out numbers. What's this one? Death Race XXVII?

I like the first Death Race. Thought it's mindless car  fun with lots of action. These are too, but forgettable. I can't even remember what 2 was about. 3 has the distinction to be out in the open desert. Obviously to accommodate a tight budget.

It's obvious to this viewer, the director Roel Reiné, has been watching a lot of Michael Bay movies with constant camera swing arounds. And even worse, to show his lack of action sense, quick edits to the races and fight scenes.... so much, it gets nauseating very quickly. He must have just finished watching The Expendables and took notes.

When the camera does step back, it's actually entertaining. The characters are completely forgettable and they cut back on the babe factor, which really curves my spine. The twist ending kind of makes it worthwhile.

Give it a rent for mindless ka-blams!!!!

Argo

This has been in my queue only because so much talk about how good it is and snubbed by the Oscars. Since I'm not to big a fan of Oscar caliber movies, I was mildly interested in this.

I am rather please to say, this is a very entertaining movie. It has the right chemistry of direction, story and characters where it never gets dull. Definitely raises the eyebrows with the whole Hollywood story Argo plan for rescue.

But honestly, I don't know about Oscar worthiness. Then again, I'm not sure what I would consider 'Oscar'.

I highly recommend Argo. I could easily watch this again in time.

Argo was brill.

I'm on my last GoT episode-- I'm gonna go into the special features for sure (the "history of Westeros" in season one was quite entertaining), but after that, I dunno... maybe the Marvel movie marathon I was thinking about.

F*ck! I didn't even know that Argo was out on DVD and certainly not in rotation at my Library. Technically it's not. They are still "on order", but I'm already 276 in line. Did I say f*ck loud enough? F*CK!
